3rd Simulation Managers Forum

(III FORUM MANAGERÓW SYMULACJI). Annual meeting of influential people in the computer simulation industry.

TotalSym attended the 3rd simulation manager form (original name: III Forum Menadżerów Symulacji). It is an annual event which gathers leaders in delivering simulation analysis from Poland.T This year, the whole meeting was held in the Copernicus Hotel in the beautiful city of Toruń (where Nicolaus Copernic was born) and organised by MESco - one of the most prominent providers of simulation analysis software and knowledge in this part of Europe.

Motivation

The event's main aim was to build connections between people engaged in the expansion of computer simulation. People from different departments and areas were providing fascinating insight about the current condition on their grounds. We exchanged thoughts and opinions, which allowed us to build bonds between people from different industries. Parts regarding solving problems were very influential and showed that currently encountered issues are common.

Beautiful and fully equipped hotel. The ideal place to hold conferences and gatherings. The hotel provides extended services like access to a swimming pool, gym, and conference rooms.

Toruń is one of the oldest cities in Poland. Narrow streets and charming markets make this place worth visiting. Toruń has many old buildings that have been preserved in perfect condition.

Summary

There were two main trends which dominated the whole forum. One of them is artifffical inteligience. We got deep insight into how this not new approach can help to perform not only simulation but also support Reasearch and Development processes in the company. Besides being considered a trendy solution, many valuable aspects and future possible implementations were presented.

The second noticeable trend is based on metadata and knowledge acquisition. Currently, the big transition is seen in simulations. Companies' main problem is that solutions stays in peoples' head and are not tracked or reused. People paid attention to the automated knowledge-gathering and tracking simualtion performance. Companies showed how they dealt with that topic and presented how their solution influenced critical metrics.

In addition to exciting presentations and workshops (full agenda), there was time to talk (even about unrelated topics) during the official dinner and city tour. It is always nice to combine business with pleasure. This event should be held and is a good compromise between mental engagement and quiet listening. Well done, MESco!
